YOUR COMPLETE VETERINARY CARE 24/7 365 DAYS A YEAR

Operations and other inpatient procedures.
We are intensely proud of the level of service we provide.
During your pets stay with us we will keep you regularly informed of its progress throughout their stay with us. In addition, no procedures will be carried out until we have your consent and are completely happy for us to proceed. Our large multidisciplinary team comprises of 12 qualified veterinary surgeons with years of training, 12 qualified nurses (most practices only have one) and a large support team of experienced trained auxiliaries and night nurses All this adds up to the very best possible veterinary care for your pet, night or day,
24/7, 365 days a year.

Park Street Refurbishment
Following a major refurbishment Park Street is fully equipped with modern facilities to provide a comprehensive level of care and treatment.
The practice's on-site facilities include, x-ray, doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, and facilities for comprehensive blood analysis on site. There are two operating theatres, one dedicated for orthopaedics.
There are separate wards for dogs, cats and small furries and an isolation ward. The wards are air conditioned and are manned 24 hours per day by a dedicated team of nurses. Inpatients are
checked at least once an hour 24 hours per day. The practice is equipped throughout with modern anaesthetic equipment and our nursing team have had extensive training in anaesthetic monitoring.

Branch surgeries
Our branch surgeries are equipped to a very high standard that you would equal or better most other practices’ main surgeries. Each has a separate operating theatre, dental area, prep area, modern anaesthetic equipment and blood analysis machines. We do not hospitalise any animals overnight at the branches, but if necessary, transfer them through to Park Street using our practice ambulance
for hospitalisation.

Operations and other inpatient procedures
Routine surgery is carried out on week days and the animals are usually admitted at the beginning of the day between 8.00-8.30am and sent home in the afternoon or early evening. We endeavour to make the procedure as stress free as possible for both you and
your pet. Our primary concern will always be for their wellbeing.
For dogs prior to your pet being admitted to the hospital the
following advice applies to all procedures including blood tests and non anaesthesia procedures unless otherwise advised by the veterinary surgeon. Food should be removed from 8pm the evening before. Water should be available overnight but taken away in the morning. It is VITAL that your pet receives no food (this includes treats and tit-bits) Food interferes with blood analysis and can complicate anaesthesia. If your pet is nervous or aggressive or has
a history of kennel guarding please advise us on the morning of admission. Please allow your pet the opportunity to go to the toilet before arrival at the hospital. Dogs can have a short walk and when they arrive must be kept on a short lead..
For cats prior to your pet being admitted to the hospital the following advice applies to all procedures including blood tests and non anaesthesia procedures unless otherwise advised by the veterinary surgeon. Food should be removed from 8pm the evening before. Water should be available overnight but taken away in the morning.
It is VITAL that your pet receives no food (this includes treats and
tit-bits) Food interferes with blood analysis and can complicate anaesthesia.
Please allow your pet the opportunity to go to the toilet before arrival at the hospital & make sure that your pet be kept in overnight with access to a litter tray. Please bring cats/small pets in a basket or
pet carrier.
For ferrets  prior to your pet being admitted to the hospital the following advice applies to all procedures including blood tests and non anaesthesia procedures unless otherwise advised by the veterinary surgeon. Food should be removed from 8pm the evening before. Water should be available overnight but taken away in the morning. It is VITAL that your pet receives no food (this includes treats and tit-bits) Food interferes with blood analysis and can complicate anaesthesia. Please allow your pet the opportunity to go to the toilet before arrival at the hospital.

With rabbits, guinea pigs, small furries, exotics, reptiles and birds, these animals must not be starved beforehand unless specifically advised. Please allow your pet the opportunity to go to the toilet before arrival at the hospital.

When you arrive at the clinic your pet will be admitted by one of our nurses. They will go through the consent form for the procedure and you will be required to provide a phone number on which you are CONTACTABLE during the day. This is vital.
There are occasions when we may need to contact you mid procedure to make a snap decision. Once admitted your pet will undergo a pre-operation check with a vet. If you have an older pet
we recommend performing some blood tests prior to the use of sedation/general anaesthetic. This is to check the liver & kidney function. If appropriate your pet will then receive an injection known as a premed. This is to reduce anxiety and if appropriate to the procedure will accompanied with an injection for pain relief & or antibiotics.
Once this has taken effect your pet will then undergo their
procedure. Whilst under anaesthesia or sedation your pet will be constantly monitored by the veterinary nurse and the veterinary surgeon using a variety of equipment to measure vital body
systems. Whilst there is always a degree of risk associated with anaesthesia & surgery we endeavour to take all possible
precautions to ensure your pet’s safety & continued good health.
An estimate of cost will be given on the consent form and you will
be asked how you wish to settle your account, as payment is expected at the time of collection. With puppies and kittens our nurses will spend time with you discussing training, socialisation, practice neutering policy, flea control, worm control, grooming,
dental care, insurance, the practice and the services provided by
our dog training subsidiary company

Nurse clinics
We have a large team of qualified veterinary nurses as well as experienced auxiliary nurses throughout the group. Much of the preventative health care is in their hands and you will find them friendly and willing to help. In this veterinary group, nurses carry out a variety of minor procedures such as microchipping, nail clipping and suture removal, vaccinations (some), redressings, admissions, discharges, and diabetes clinics  as well as providing advice on feeding, dental care, flea and worm treatment and weight control. Some nurse appointments are free of charge and if you feel that one of the nursing staff may be able to help then please ask for a nurse appointment.

With puppies and kittens our nurses will spend time with you discussing training, socialisation, practice neutering policy, flea control, worm control, grooming, dental care, insurance, and the services provided by our dog training subsidiary company

Our own night service
We are the only veterinary practice in Hull that use our own veterinary surgeons to provide our own 24 hr emergency service,
with the service being based at our Park Street hospital. This allows for continuity of care with all your animals records available and both you and your pet with familiar surroundings and familiar faces.
One of the benefits to you is that we keep complete control of the quality of care your pet will receive and avoid the need for an ambulance transfer the following morning if hospitalization has to continue into the following day.

Just phone your usual number 24hrs a day 365 days a year.

Pet Ambulance and courier service
We have been running a dedicated ambulance for the last 15 years and this has proved to be an invaluable service to owners who need transport for their pets and themselves, particularly those who have larger pets or those who are heavily soiled. The ambulance is available for collection from home to any of our branches and will return them when the procedures have been completed.
This service is available for any branch; please contact your local reception for details of this service.
In addition, we offer a courier services for deliveries for pet foods
and medications for those owners who have difficulties in carrying such items.

Scallywags
Scallywags is our dog training school and is run by two of our qualified nurses. Both nurses have additional extensive training in dog behaviour and training. Scallywags provide our puppy parties which new pups and their owners are welcome to come along to for two free sessions. These sessions cover the basics of puppy care as well as providing an opportunity for early socialisation.
Scallywags offer a 5 week training course.
Our clients never regret going on this course. The aim is to end up with a well behaved and fulfilled happy dog and therefore a happier owner too. Scallywags also offer one to one training for more
difficult cases. We can also offer home visits. For futher details and prices of our one to one sessions at Beverley Road site or home training visits, please ring 01482 854422

Canine Partners
Canine Partners is a national charity which trains and provides dogs for disabled owners. Theses are assistance dogs which are trained with many skills including being able to empty the washing machine, presenting the owners purse to the cashier, pressing the button at
the pedestrian crossing, opening doors and helping the owner get up/get dressed.

Kingston Veterinary Group is the regional coordinator for this charity and Hull is the only city in the North Of England to have a satellite group. Puppies are fostered by local volunteers and trained in basic skills by Scallywags until they are ready to go down south for advanced training before final placement with disabled owners.
If you would like to get involved in this or help with our fundraising activities please ask at reception.

House Calls
We recognise that whilst the best facilities for the treatment of your pet are in the clinic, there are circumstances when home attendance is more appropriate and we are happy to arrange a visit for you on these occasions. Please make your request for a visit before 10.00am where possible. We will endeavour to provide an approximate arrival time as soon as possible that day. Unfortunately home visits must be arranged along side our commitments to our other patients but we will give emergencies priority whenever possible. Please be aware that there is an extra charge for this.

Prescriptions
Most medications are prescribed and dispensed during the
veterinary consultation and after examination by the veterinary surgeon. Current legislation requires us to carry out regular
re-examinations to confirm the usefulness of the medication, the accuracy of the dosage and the absence of significant side effects. Most long term conditions will require a veterinary re-examination at no more than 3 month intervals, subject to the judgement of the clinician. There is a charge for this re-examination.
For owners requiring ongoing supplies of medication we will endeavour to prepare prescriptions within 24 hours.

Pricing structure
Kingston Veterinary Group operates a transparent pricing
structure. Whilst procedures such as consultations, vaccinations
and neuterings have standard prices, the charges for most surgical operations or investigations are based on the time that they take. The cost of blood tests, X-rays, dressings, drugs, hospitalisation
and any special materials (e.g. orthopaedic implants) are always added to the surgical fee.

We routinely charge for follow on consultations although this is at a lower fee.
